Raced a Hyabusa last night.

So last night me and the wife were out cruisin. It was one of those night s where it rains every other block but not enough for anyone to go home. So we get into this huge group of crotch rockets. I notice a very nice dark gray Hyabusa. They kept picking on me from a roll and I just let em all go by but a few blocks later, we catch a light. Now I know theyll get me in the top but just wanted to see their faces when I rape em through the intersection and more. It had just been raingin a little too where we were at so I thoguth this is gonna be funny hoping a couple of em would get excited and fall off :rotf: J/K. So the light runs greeen and I launch with 15lbs on the wet road. I was pulling form side to side but still hooking up very well. When I hit about 50 my wife starts laughing and telling me the guy on the Hyabusa almost wiped out and couldnt keep it straight. The other guy was on a GSX R? and he got me at about 80. It was fun. Im sure I coulda stayed out alittle longer if I didnt have go back to stock boost last night.

It is very easy to beat those bikes from a dig, they just blow by you later in the 1/4 mile.
I beat they were thinking they were going to blow you away from the start ha ,ha!!

That made me laugh. I love playing in the rain.

Only in the rain though LOL!

But hey they should have read the advertisements -
" ... performance is 0-60 in 4.3 sec (4.6 in the rain!!!)"

Sadly I think the Busa is one of the few Typhoon/Syclone stoplight killers ....

Top Speed : 190.3 mph
Standing quarter : 10.3 sec @ 143.9 mph
0-60 mph : 2.8 sec
0-100 mph : 5.3 sec

Power : 151.6 bhp
Torque : 94 ft-lbs
Measured wet weight : 252 kg

that is with a seasoned rider though

Whatever makes you sleep better at night.

This is basically apples to oranges but most sports bikes would rape anything riding on 4 wheels from a light. These are 600 or 900 cc motors ... you are talking about a 1300 cc or almost 80 cubic inch motor on a 555 pound bike. I dig the Sy/Tys a lot but there is really no contest, and if they are stupid enough to race in the rain from a dig then score one for the Ty.

My 750 would rape anything but a 10-second or better SyTy. In the rain, that's a no-brainer. Glad no one got hurt.

Wholeheartidly disagree. I raced with WERA and AMA and have had my fair share of numerous sportbikes. Ergonomically, a bike cannot launch with an AWD vehicle from the line for one of two reasons. The rider drags the clutch (loss of power; thus momentum) OR he overpowers and loops the bike out. Might not be very distant up the road before the vehicle is passed but it ain't happening off the line!! A wheelie bar OR hyper-extended swing arm will of course make a difference, but void of those two modifications, the bike will exit the hole second place every time when pitted next to a Sy or Ty.....wet or dry!

Times two!!!
I raced in the NMRA.
Street bikes w/no wheelie bar or extended swing arms run 2.0 60ft.or slower normally.
I always beat a stock Hyabusa, R1, ZX10, & so on from a dig @ a track, or on the street.
Unless you have raced them,,,, you should not put fear into Sy/Ty owners from spanking them from a dig.

So where do they start catching up? 60 Ft, 100 Ft, Farther? I am in no way dogging the Sy/Ty but the numbers on most of these bikes 0-60 times are crazy. Noted those number are with professional riders, and I understand the power means nothing if it isn't on the asphalt but I'd like to know how far most are taking bikes off the line until you get passed?

Shane, there are so many variants to consider but suffice it to say, it will take an above average rider on a <900 bike to conquer a modded Sy/Ty in the 1/8th IMO. An RGV 500, R1, Huyabusa, ZX-11, 929 RR, Aprilia 1000 (etc) could probably get it done a bit before that but it won't be at the 100 ft mark. I am sure you already know that the ground gained on a launch is hard to make up down the track or street. On my best day under optimum conditions, I couldn't take a Sy or Ty off the line. A pro-alchohol bike could do it off the line to infinity but I am talking within reason and most of our budgets :).

.

I'm not sure if the trucks can beat out the budget catogory vs the pro-alchohol bikes

Either way it's cool to hear how the trucks run even against street bikes. And that is pretty good if it takes to the 1/8 to catch up.

I've never seen a street bike that I couldn't rape in the 1/8 mile. The best I have seen a street bike run at our local 1/8 mile track was 7.4's. Granted, our local track isn't much and I'm sure there are much faster bikes/better drivers out there, but I have yet to see one I would back down from through the 1/8 mile.

This topic has been somewhat discussed before here. TYTILIDIE seems to have a surplus of hyabusa owners where he lives...

Trust me, I can relate. I live by two Ford plants so, the ratio of mustangs is considerably higher than anywhere else I visit. You would think that I would get to line up against one more often but, it rarely happens :(...

How are the cops there? Can you give me a little summary of what it's like at night? I'm looking to move somewhere in a year or two, and proximity to some hot racing action is high on my list of priorities. I don't have kids or a wife or any other bullshit to tie me down, so let the good times roll!!! :D

Oh, and regarding the Hayabusas, I have seen them at the drag strip all the time (most popular bike to race around here) and they are fast! Magazines have got them to run 9.50's @ 150mph stock (pro rider) and reached 200MPH top speed. The guys around here have nitrous or turbos on them and they are insane. But not as insane as the wildest thing I've seen... a guy with an RX-1 snowmobile with a GT2871R turbo that went so fast at the dragstrip it smoked the track! Smoked it I say! ...... to an astonishing 8.20 @ 168 MPH run. The guy's best run this year was in the 7s over 170mph!! Sitting on a snowmobile. When I saw the boost hit on that sled, expletives came out of my mouth at an unprecedented pace!!

I've got a GT25R on my RX-1, lets just say that winter is good turbo weather.

Had my sled in yellowstone last year (high altitude) and keep in mind it's built as a climber not a race sled, geared low, etc. It was showing 130+ on the speedo when I let off and the speedo reads slow. It was still accelerating but the stability became somewhat questionable and them 100 year old trees beside the traile didn't look like they'd jump outta my way in any sort of hurry.

Been kinda tempted to convert it to a shorty asphalt sled for the summer and have some fun, but I'll just put that on my to-do list sometime when I have nothing better to do. :rotf:

You know what Tony, I have seen that "RX1, turbo'd of course" in your signature for a while but I must have never looked too closely or made the connection! Cool! Have you ever heard of the guy I'm talking about? A friend said he posts on Hard Core Sledder. I had to do a triple take at the ET lights when I saw it. He was the 2nd fastest thing at the dragstrip that day, including a few dragsters.

Well, the cops here blow and they have had the San Diego police dept(DragNet unit ) come here to school our cops on how to curb the major street racing problem we have here. However, there is a hell of a lot of racing here. I try to take what I think would be a good race elsewhere to a spot I have actually physically measured out on a back industrial rd. So far it would seem that the cops think thier best weapon is breaking up hang outs. There is still tons of racing here. If youre looking for a blast of a night life I would recommend either here in Colorado Springs or Ft. Collins. Ft. Collins definately has a ton of chicks., So does the Springs but theyre a little more trashy here than the college girls up in the Ft. Theres definately more to do here as a whole though. We have a good club scene and the racing scene is even better. We have a track in Pueblo and a track in Denver, both about a 45 minute to an hour drive. I definately wouldnt recommend Denver as the racing there blows. You just have to take a chance of catching one while youre out and about. Only racing Ive done there was against people I actually know. If you want more info let me know, I can tell you whatedver you need to know.
