Re: so here i am in oakland CA
lol. is that those big trees you drive through?
Them big redwood tree;s are huge.
If you have time and you love sushi, go to Alameda (5 minutes from where you are at) , the place is called "the sushi house"..
If you are driving to the city and want to drive across the golden gate bridge, Take 880 to 280(San Francisco). Cross the Bay bridge($4.00 toll). Then keep driving to you get to the Van Ness st/ golden gate bridge turn off. Get off on the Mission st exit. Make a right onto mission st. Then a Left at the first big light "VAN NESS St".. Take that street all the way up, it will take you to Lombard st(lombard is that street that leads you to the GG bridge). On van Ness and Lombard you can either go left towards the golden gate, or make a right up the steep hill and you will get on to the "crazy crooked st in the world" Drive through it. If you go towards the wiggly st, keep on going to the very end (after you stop take the million pictures) you will hit coit tower. A MOST. There is the best views of the city. After your done there you can head back onto van ness and go to the golden gate bridge. Cross it, you can get off at the first vista point and take pictures or even walk the bridge, then hope back into the car get on 101 north, to get off at the very first exit (maybe 300 yards from the vista point). There you make a left, go up the hill all the way up into the Marin headlands. You can stop at the many vista points to look out. But I recommend going up to the old fort, take the 200 yard hike to the very top and you will be higher than the bridge itself (this place is called eagles point). You can see the Marin headlands from there and the most beautiful view of the city. Then go back down take 101 north to 580 cross the other bridge (you will pass the states maximum security prison, san quinn)... stay on the right lane and u will get another view of the city. Then mirge back on the 880 south and you will arrive back to Oakland.
FYI...get to pier 39 early to get your tickets to the Alcatraz.. They only have a limited amount of trips. The tickets are sold towards the end of the pier, or just ask anyone on the pier and they will direct you. Make sure you try the clam chowder, made with the days fresh catch (Boudins sourdough company if my recommendation)
I PM'd ya my # if ya need some help with directions...
