What temperature sensor feeds the stock temp gauge?

Is one a sensor and one a sender? I know about the one in the front next to the coolant neck. Which is which and where is the other? Which one is for the stock temp gauge?

Hatrik - The sensor near the coolant neck from my memorie is the temp sensor and sender. Are you asking if there are two devices one that reads the temp and the other tells the gauge?? I think the one unit that you know of does both. Well lets see what others say.

I wasn't sure. That's what I thought, but I have a sensor that has a different connection that was given to me by VermontTY. It doesn't match the one by the coolant neck, so I thought maybe it goes somewhere else. The one by the coolant neck was replaced so now I don't have a "low temp" check engine light on, but my gauge still isn't working. :dunno: Maybe my gauge is broken.

I think the one in the driver heads is the cluster temp sensor. The Intake manifold one is the ECM coolant sensor.

correct the one in the head is a one wire sender for the cluster

i know for sure. the one going too the gauge is only 1 wire. the one for ecm has 2

dvr side cyl head with a green wire = gauge sensor.
