Can the P/S pump shaft seal be replaced while installed in the bracket and only removing the pulley? Or do I need to pull the pump back out to change it? TIA
I have never just replaced the seal but you may as well just change the pump out there may be other seals bad too and if i rember it may have cost the same or close to a whole rebuild kit.
You can replace just the shaft seal without removing the pump.but if there is quite a few miles on the pump it may be beter to replace it.
Kinda depends on how bad it is leaking or if you just want to low buck it.
If you are going to rebuild it, you can get a kit from Autozone for like $14 or $15.
You'll need a press or have someone press the new shaft bushing in.
