Re: noob question

water pump is same as 4.3 s10, transfer case is same as 91-94 bravada. some things are s10 interchangeable from s10 and others are syty specific, dash trim pieces are s10 except the cluster and bezel.

just depends on what it needs or what you plan or replacing.

transmission is a 700r4 but not the same one as 10, these had special internals, rear ends are same as any gu6 g80 s10/blazer rearend, front diff is same as bravada as well. only bravada and some astro vans were AWD other than syty, but i stay away from astro just because i hate vans.

Re: noob question

I'll try and expand on s_blazin's comments. Nearly everything on your truck came from the GM parts bin. Front end, transfer case, gauge cluster, etc were borrowed from other production vehicles. Most of the underhood stuff (except turbo, ABS) is stock 4.3 stuff. All of the body parts except the cladding and bumpers are normal S-10. I bet 70% of our parts can be replaced through typical auto parts stores. I'm guessing 20% will have to be scavenged from junkyards, parts trucks, etc. The best source for the 10% sy/ty specific parts is this very website! The vendors and members here seem to be very helpful and can find/scavenge/machine/fabricate anything you need

Re: noob question

regarding the front and rear differential. I was going to get the fluid changed and the mechanic said that if it hasnt been changed in a while, new fluid could make things worse. Anyone ever hear of this and is there anything special I should know or ask about when changing it. also, how often should it be changed?
