I just saw that episode last night. I was trying to tape it in the other room so I missed the first couple minutes but my fiance was watching it and said that the Sy is visible behind Elaine and Kramer in the first few minutes. They're walking away from it and you can see the driver's side and back-end a bit in the back ground, then a few minutes later they show the scene mentioned above. I was able to tape that scene but then stopped the tape so we could watch Canada's Worst Driver's so I didnt see if the Sy was shown anymore in the episode.

Anyone have this clip still? The previous link has been taken down.

If it was Jerry's truck, I would be surprised if he didn't still have it. He's got quite a collection of cars.

Re: Seinfeld SyTy

Old thread - but I just recorded this episode. Trying to convert it to WMV as I type this.
If successful, I'll host it on my Photobucket site (providing I can use that much space).
If anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to them.

Re: Seinfeld SyTy

its just an empty box...

I've seen people treat their trucks a lot worse, piling shit on top of them. lol

Cardboard will scratch the paint, I know because it happened once to me. Some careless jerk slid cardboard across the hood (black '93) while at my brother's business. :1gun: I'd bet that hood got scuffed up from that scene, but it would buff out okay.

Actually, Michael Richards insisted that the box contain an actual air conditioner so his movements and fatigue would appear genuine.

Re: Seinfeld SyTy

Watch as he first lowers the box to the ground and then picks it up.
doesn't seem very heavy.
watch as he sets the weight on the hood, no suspension compression.
watch as the box tumbles over the front bumper cover.
Seems kind of floppy not heavy at all.

Its physics just don't appear to be that heavy to me.

But I guess if he insists it was loaded then I am wrong. my apologies.

Where exactly did you come upon the info that Kramer claims the box he dropped on the Syclone was actually loaded?

I F'n hate seinfeld anyways so this is about as much of it as I can stand.

That is discussing the scene where he stuffed the AC into the truck of the car not the scene where he set it on the hood of the Sy.
2 different takes completely.

Watch how the cars suspension compresses and even rebounds from the weight.
Yes I believe that box is loaded in that shot.

Now watch the Syclone clip. no compression and a floppy box.
a 180# AC would have hit the ground much quicker with gravity reacting on it and all.

I still stand behind that shot of the Sy the box was not loaded. ;)

Doesn't matter either way really, but I don't think they damaged the hood of the Sy in that shot and if they did Jerry has the bank roll to fix it.

Re: Seinfeld SyTy

Alright, the video conversion from DVR-MS to any other kind of file didn't go so well. Anyone recommend some simple (and preferably free) software to be able to accomplish this task?

I did however manage to capture some decent screen shots:

It's a sport truck=stiff suspension, compared to the rebound of a Ford LTD sedan=not as firm.
Also, why would he hold a full box at all times, even at rehearsal but yet drop an empty box on the Syclone as Jerry has the funds anyway as you stated, to just fix it..
Watch the front of the box as it drops into to view before hitting the hood. if you watch that a few times, you'll see the box shake as the weight shifts before contact. Now if you watch the passenger wiper or glovebox, you'll see it and the wheel well slightly move upon contact. Keep clicking on the red bar at (0:10 secs) until the front end shows if you still don't see it.

Also you can see the truck in the background at 1:22 and 1:48 in the behind the scenes video.

This episode is actually coming on here in the Tulsa viewing area on Fox23 @ 10pm. Don't know if all of the Fox channels run the same episodes?
