I don't feel like joining that forum, so you can copy and re-post this if you want.
Bought my Sy new in 91. Off the showroom floor it ran 13.5's. Changed the thermostat to 160 degree and ran 13.3's. Changed the stock chip to Hypertech chip (big mistake) and ran 12.9's. I fully agree with TxSy1430, a street truck at a track running 13.3's will have a difficult time spanking a Sy on the street, especially by such a margin. Plus, if the ls1 didn't have ANY tractions issues, why did the Sy jump it out the gate? Finally, tell the other moron that it is a Syclone, NOT Cyclone, those were Mercury's.

good Im not crazy then....I dont in any way say that the Syclone is the baddest thing on the streets...but damn there is not much that can even stay close to what is now a 17yr old truck...the guy in the post (quik) went off on some rant about stuff i never said....what a dumb@$$..

no need to get all flustered. Beastmode is a close friend of mine, and its not a meaningful thread, merely for fun. He beat me when i first got my truck. If anyone's interested, "at the time" it was a high CR (9.5:1) 4.3L which could only hold 10psi before knocking. The mods were a flowmaster muffler, and a Walbro. Stock tune. Truck ran a best of 14.3 at the track that year. It's since been modified, and runs low 12s on snow tires.

oh, and about the muffler, that Quik guy lives near me (not affiliated with me). he has illegal stickers and runs no muffler on his 88mm turbo, high 13second truck. he's just looking for an argument

Ive owned my TY for less than a week,,, and I can tell you... NO WAY IN HELL!!
My 96 Impala SS would have made simple work out of that truck... But the TY will BLOW the doors out of my SS....

LOL! If you only knew...:rotf: It's an 88mm turbo on a 4.8L with a T56. Not exactly the best setup for the street. Think Supra.
And yes, a 5000lb truck can take a Syclone...just not with mild bolt ons. :roll:

I totally believe the story that the silverado won. The syclone was only running 10 psi. A sy running 10psi would get beat by just about any sports car. I remember when I bought my syclone. There was a mass amount of things wrong with it. The main thing was the intercooler pump didnt work. It was like driving a regular 4.3L S10. When I got things running right it finally woke up.

You are right 10psi on a GT45R is a bit different than 10psi on a 17C. Im just assuming. I beat a 500hp chevy duramax turbo deisel with 20 psi on a stock turbo. So Im just guessing based on my experiences.
