A while back I helped Opie enter a few pages of info on Sportmachines. I offered my help not realizing how long and slow the process could be. I'm sure he wants everyone to know as much as they can about their own truck, it just takes time. Maybe he still wants help?

I've been helping with some of the build log stuff, which is slowly being put up there. There's lots of stuff to go through.

As I understand things, there were 'conditions' governing the use and dissemination of this information. I don't know exactly what these conditions were, but if someone gave me this type of info with rules attached, I would be following the rules. Not a good idea to alienate good sources.

Also, if you opened the boxes up to people, could you imagine the fray? People would bitch that they weren't getting copies fast enough, or that their information wasn't complete (not everything is always there), or would want it in a different format.

Everybody always thinks there's some big conspiracy behind this, but the reality is that there is usually a practical, real-world reason behind it.

Not that I speak for the Spotrmachines guys, but they really do put a lot of time + effort to getting this stuff out to people. It's not as easy as people make it out to be.

I aquired the build sheets for the raspberry but i shelled out 3 bills for it and had to give a zq8 box in with the deal as well. Are these the "conditions" you speak of?

yea 300 plus a zq8 box and i had to pay freight to him. Even better was he said he had the window sticker for it as well when all i got was one of those reproduction ones that he makes on his computer. I never posted about it before because i figured the post would get deleted and i would get kicked off the boards but f**k it whatever.

Thanks for your reply. I've seen the posts you have made recently, and it looks like you are on the road to restore the ty; that's awesome and I look forward to seeing the progress! With just a little elbow grease and a few replacement parts, you will undoubtedly have a strong ROI.

With unique vehicles such as the Syclone and Typhoon I think you would agree that the more documentation, the better. Having the right documentation makes the truck so much more attractive ($$) to prospective buyers.

Therefore, I respectfully decline your counter offer at this time.

thats freakin crazy. I have no probs paying for someone's time and materials, but 300 bucks is ridiculous.

wow - i just found this thread.

Yes we have the PAS documents and yes they are being scanned.

No I never new that Merk was selling them and I didn't even know that he had a copy of them.

Merk had some documents that I / we didn't have so i am not really sure what you got from him.

Shoot me an e-mail and i'll see if i can get you something the next time i am near the documents which won't be for some time. I have to much going on right now with work and the truck build.

BTW yes there are rule as to what to do with the documents and selling them was one of them. So the fact that you paid for them is unfair.

This is nice. So i paid for documents that i was not supposed to. I dont mind paying something for their time but i agree 500 was insane and 300 plus a zq8 box was nuts but what else was i to do in order to get the documents. I wanted to try and keep all the original stuff with this truck so i paid. What i got was photocopies of the build sheet showing the trucks numbers to verify it, a fake window sticker, the original log book from pas for 92 supposedly, and a dealer receipt for a replacement centercap from the original owner. I know i was hosed on the deal and i did pm merk about it. His post made it seem like he had official documentation stating that this truck was to be sprayed in raspberry etc.... and i certainly did not get that. Next to the trucks number in the log book its just penciled in raspberry. Its not very official looking and no i dont think i got my moneys worth. After a few pm's merk stopped responding to me so i just gave up. I thought i was getting originals on everything for 300 not photcopies of everything and a fake window sticker. The only thing that looks original is the log book.

I've seen the 92 Build book that PAS was filling out to document the 92 Ty Builds. I may even have copies of said book. But that would be next to impossible to find since I boxed everthing up weeks ago.
